The nation is in mourning following a tragic helicopter crash in Nandi County that claimed the life of Emurua Dikirr MP, Hon. Johana Ng’eno Kipyegon, alongside five crew members. The fatal accident has sent shockwaves across the country, with leaders from across the political divide expressing grief and solidarity with the bereaved families.
In a statement, Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga conveyed his sorrow over the devastating loss.
“It is with profound shock and a heavy heart that we receive the news of the tragic helicopter accident in Nandi. We mourn the untimely passing of Hon. Johana Ng’eno Kipyegon, MP for Emurua Dikirr, alongside five dedicated crew members who perished in the line of duty. Our deepest condolences go out to their families, the people of Narok County, and fellow colleagues in Parliament,” he said.
On behalf of the ODM fraternity, Oburu affirmed that the party stands in prayerful solidarity with the bereaved during what he termed a dark and painful moment.
President William Ruto also led the nation in mourning, describing the late MP as a committed and outspoken leader who served his constituents with passion and dedication.
Ruto extended heartfelt sympathies to the families of the deceased crew members and assured Kenyans that investigations into the cause of the crash are underway.
“My friend, Mheshimiwa Ng’eno, was a progressive and devoted servant of the people who worked tirelessly on behalf of the residents of Emurua Dikirr, Narok County.
“He was focused, vocal, and fearless; a leader who stood firmly for justice and equity for all.
“He will be remembered for the tangible progress achieved under his leadership and his exemplary commitment to promoting local talent, especially in music,” Ruto shared.
