In a significant political development, the Oburu Odinga-led ODM Parliamentary Group held a meeting today at the Parliament Buildings, during which key strategic decisions were announced. The meeting focused on advancing the party’s agenda in collaboration with UDA Party and addressing pressing national issues.
Speaking after the session, Junet Mohamed confirmed that ODM and UDA are set to receive a detailed 10-point agenda report this coming Tuesday at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre. The report will outline priorities for the anticipated coalition and serve as a roadmap for joint legislative efforts.
Oburu Odinga further stated that the party has officially resolved to commence pre-coalition negotiations with UDA. “Our discussions will focus on championing fundamental issues affecting Kenyans, particularly those identified in the National Anti-Demonstration and Compensation Oversight (#NADCO) report,” he said.
The ODM Parliamentary Group emphasized its commitment to ensuring that Parliament allocates sufficient budgetary resources to implement these priorities. A major component of this commitment is the compensation of citizens affected by past demonstrations. The group reiterated that addressing these concerns is central to the party’s mandate to protect citizen welfare and uphold democratic rights.
Political analysts say this move signals a strategic deepening of cooperation between ODM and UDA ahead of upcoming national elections. The parties’ alignment on key legislative priorities and citizen-focused policies could redefine coalition politics in Kenya, especially on issues that directly impact the populace.
The 10-point agenda report, to be presented at the KICC, is expected to clarify both parties’ shared vision and concrete plans for advancing national development while reinforcing the ODM-UDA alliance.
