National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has disclosed that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua once gave him KSh 5 million in cash.

Speaking during an interview on Obinna Live on Thursday, the Kikuyu MP recounted an incident where Gachagua unexpectedly called him and asked to meet at a petrol station. He(Gachagua) send his aide called Ngotho and, upon arrival, Ichung’wah said he(Ngotho) handed him a black bag, insisting he take it, claiming it had been sent by Gachagua(then DP).

“He called me out of the blue and asked to meet. When I met his assistant at the petrol station, he stepped out with a black bag and insisted I take it, saying it had come from his boss, Gachagua. I later opened it and found KSh 5 million in cash,” he said.

Ichung’wah further revealed that later that night, at around 10:30 pm, Gachagua personally called him back and clarified that the money was actually from him, intended to support Ichung’wah’s office operations, which he noted involved extensive engagements and activities.

According to Ichung’wah, this was the only time he received money from Rigathi Gachagua before their relationship eventually deteriorated.

Ichungwah added that this gift of Ksh 5M came by after MPs had investigated and found out that the Ministry of Education headed by Mr. Ezekiel Machogu had colluded with Gachagua(the then DP) to defraud government millions of money.
