Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has indicated he could consider working again with President William Ruto – but only under specific political conditions, including changes in key leadership positions.

Speaking in Ol Kalou on Wednesday, April 8, during the burial of late Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho, the DCP Party leader revisited his fallout with the current administration, explaining how his removal unfolded and how he has since regained political footing despite efforts by some of Ruto’s allies to sideline him.

“President Ruto, Ichung’wah told you Riggy G will be forgotten in two weeks. How many years is it now?” Gachagua posed amid cheers.

In a pointed address, #Gachagua said he would be willing to mobilize support from the Mt Kenya region for Ruto ahead of the 2027 elections – on condition that the President parts ways with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah.

“We are ready to work with you, but only if you stop surrounding yourself with leaders who are misleading you. If not, we are equally prepared to face you politically in the near future,” he said, as Kindiki sat among leaders present.

Gachagua, a former Mathira MP, argued that growing discontent in the Mt Kenya region stems from what he described as a broken pre-election agreement between #Ruto and the region’s leadership.

He accused the President of betraying the trust of the Agikuyu community, which overwhelmingly backed his bid despite regional differences, warning that such actions could have political consequences.

The event was attended by several leaders, including President Ruto and Deputy President Kindiki.

Ruto responded to him saying nothing will derail his plans to work directly with the Mt Kenya people and that he need permission from no one to attend functions in the area.

He called out Gachagua for preaching disunity and tribalism so that to paint him(Ruto) as an anti-people type of a leader.
