Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has downplayed claims by the government that President William Ruto cannot serve for only one term.

Addressing this matter on media this Wednesday May 13, the ex-CS reasoned that all signs and factors point to a one-term  regine and said President Ruto cannot escape this public rage.

Matiang’i said he has been to so many corners of the country and the mood is so bad for the current head of State who should now start planning on how to hand over the instruments of power and peacefully exit office in 2027.

“If I were his close friend in government or one of his advisors, by now I could have opened up to him on what the exact mood says. There is no survival after 2027 general elections. That’s how bad the situation is on the ground,” Matiang’i noted.

He referenced his argument on the recent utterances by Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya who is on record confessing that campaigning for Dr. Ruto is nolonger an easy exercise.

Matiang’i has, therefore, advised those thinking otherwise that President William Ruto will be the first Kenyan head of State to pack and leave office in a record one term due to the current public mood which cannot be changed in the remaining 14 months.
