Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that President William Ruto has already infiltrated the United Opposition.

Speaking today in Murang’a, the outspoken DCP Party leader nearly named Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni as the person allegedly working for Ruto within the opposition ranks.

“He is pretending to be with us, but in reality, he is busy working for Ruto and scheming for our downfall. This leader is all over TV and radio stations making statements meant to cause divisions in the United Opposition,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua further stated that the leader in question has made sensational claims that he will vie for the presidency regardless of whatever decision is reached by the United Opposition team.

However, Gachagua clarified that he will only run for the presidency if the entire team agrees on his candidature. If the team decides otherwise, he said he will fully support that decision.

The visibly angry DCP Party boss was speaking a day after Jeremiah Kioni appeared on various radio stations discussing opposition politics. In his remarks, Kioni claimed that once Gachagua declares his candidature, leaders such as Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua of the People’s Liberation Party, and Fred Matiang’i of Jubilee would be left stranded.

So far, three senior politicians have left the ruling UDA party and joined DCP. Among them are lawyer Nelson Havi and Millicent Omanga, who is eyeing the Nairobi Woman Representative seat.
