Gachagua Promises to Throw Weight Behind Opposition Candidate if He’s Overlooked

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has confirmed he is prepared to support an opposition candidate other than himself if his political allies settle on a different individual to challenge President William Ruto in 2027.

Gachagua ended speculation on Monday, August 24, during the final day of his 55-day Wamunyoro consultations conclave in Nyeri County, where he presented a comprehensive outcome of consultations on the country’s political direction.
