Bumula Member of Parliament Jack Wamboka has been relieved of his duties as chair of the Public Investments Committee on Governance and Education as investigations begin into claims that he solicited bribes from witnesses.

The action comes after multiple complaints were filed by individuals appearing before the committee, who alleged that the legislator subjected them to intimidation and undue pressure.

Announcing the decision in Parliament on Wednesday, April 22, Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss Shollei said the move was necessary to uphold integrity and maintain confidence in the committee’s work.

Shollei emphasized that suspending Wamboka from the chairmanship is a temporary measure aimed at protecting the credibility of the Public Investments Committee while the inquiry into the allegations is ongoing.
