William Ruto has criticised individuals he claims are exploiting the personal challenges facing Raphael Tuju for political gain, accusing them of insincerity and opportunism.

Speaking in Siaya County during a series of political engagements, the President said those publicly rallying behind the former minister were not genuine in their support. He argued that Tuju requires honest allies rather than individuals seeking publicity from his situation.

“Tuju needs honest friends, not scavengers,” Ruto said, as he blamed opposition figures for what he described as the former Cabinet Secretary’s current difficulties.

The Head of State further stated that Tuju needs sincere backing to help him navigate his financial troubles and protect his wealth from potential auction. He added that meaningful recovery would depend on Tuju surrounding himself with trustworthy and supportive associates.

Ruto also alleged that Tuju’s recent disappearance was orchestrated by individuals intent on politicising sensitive personal matters for their own benefit. According to the President, such actions undermine the seriousness of the situation and detract from efforts to offer genuine support.

His remarks come amid heightened public attention over Tuju’s circumstances, with political actors expressing varying views on the unfolding developments.
