The Kenyan government is facing mounting pressure after new claims emerged pointing to possible financial irregularities involving billions of shillings on the eCitizen system, a central portal used by citizens to access and pay for public services.
In response, the National Assembly of Kenya’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has escalated its inquiry, announcing plans to summon seven institutions as investigations into a suspected Ksh9.4 billion discrepancy gather momentum.
The decision was reached during a committee sitting held at County Hall on Wednesday, March 25, where lawmakers reviewed findings from a special audit conducted by the Office of the Auditor-General Kenya.
The session, chaired by Butere MP Tindi Mwale, involved questioning senior government officials over the management of funds processed through the platform.
