The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has obtained a custodial order from the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Kahawa Law Courts in Nairobi as part of ongoing investigations into alleged hate speech and ethnic incitement.
The respondent, Bare Sahara Ahmed, will remain in custody at Kilimani Police Station for 10 days to allow detectives to complete their inquiries. The court also authorised a forensic examination of digital evidence, including call data records and financial transactions, to aid the investigation.
Authorities said the move is aimed at ensuring a thorough probe while safeguarding national cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
The DCI has urged the public to exercise responsibility in their communications and avoid actions that may incite division or hatred.
