Linda Mwananchi Leadership Names Edwin Sifuna as Presidential Candidate

The leadership of Linda Mwananchi has announced that Edwin Watenya Sifuna will be its presidential candidate as the political outfit prepares for the next phase of its political activities.

In a statement following a leadership retreat, the group said its members had resolved to move forward together, united by what it described as a common purpose of responding to Kenyans seeking better governance.

The leadership further said it was committed to what it termed efforts to rescue the country from the failures of the current administration.

According to the resolutions reached during the retreat, Sifuna will serve as the group’s leader and presidential candidate.

The leadership also announced plans for the formal unveiling of the political party through which Sifuna will seek the presidency. The unveiling is expected to take place in early October, with Sifuna set to lead the process.

The group did not disclose in the statement the name of the party under which Sifuna will contest the presidency.

Linda Mwananchi also resolved to pursue a coalition with other political parties that share what it described as a commitment to the interests of Kenyans.

The announcement marks a significant step in the group’s preparations ahead of the 2027 General Election, as political formations continue positioning themselves and exploring possible alliances.

Sifuna, who currently serves as the Nairobi Senator and has been active in national political affairs, will now be at the centre of Linda Mwananchi’s efforts to establish a broader political platform.

The leadership said it remained united and focused on the work ahead, signalling its intention to proceed with the planned party unveiling and coalition-building efforts.
