In a move signaling fresh perspectives in Kenya’s digital governance, the Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has named Naiyanoi Ntutu Ng’eno to the board of the Information and Communication Technology Authority (ICTA). Her appointment is expected to bring a blend of personal resilience and civic commitment to the authority as it continues to drive the country’s digital transformation.

The Gazette Notice, dated Thursday, April 2, formalized Naiyanoi’s role as an ICTA board member for a three-year term, effective from the date of publication.

In her new capacity, Naiyanoi will play a part in overseeing ICTA’s operations, which are pivotal in advancing e-government services and fostering Kenya’s digital economy.

ICTA Board Chairperson Lily Ng’ok Kirui welcomed the appointment, expressing confidence in Naiyanoi’s ability to contribute meaningfully to the board’s work.

“Welcome to the Information and Communication Technology Authority Board, Naiyanoi Ntutu Ng’eno. I am looking forward to working closely with you,” Ng’ok Kirui said in a social media message. “I have no doubt in your abilities and the contribution you will make to the team. Together, we will fulfil our collective mandate.”

Naiyanoi rose to national prominence after the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the life of her husband, the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, on February 28, 2026, alongside five others. The incident drew widespread public sympathy and attention to the family.

Shortly after her husband’s passing, Naiyanoi briefly considered entering politics by expressing interest in contesting the now-vacant parliamentary seat, but later withdrew for personal reasons after family consultations. Her decision to step back from electoral politics has now paved the way for a focus on public service through her role at ICTA.
