Kenyan security forces have successfully dismantled a major terror supply chain in Nairobi, recovering a large consignment of suspected #Al-Shabaab combat uniforms in a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
The crackdown highlights the ongoing efforts to intercept illicit arms and equipment intended for militant activities across the East African region.
Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Starehe unit and the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) seized 11 bales, each containing 60 full camouflage uniforms and 120 t-shirts, traced to a sophisticated network supplying the militants.
Further investigations, guided by intelligence from Jubaland, led to the recovery of an additional bale containing 65 uniforms and 120 t-shirts. The shipments were traced back to China and delivered through a local parcel service in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
“The operation was triggered by intelligence following a critical interception in Dhobley on 6th April 2026, where Jubaland Security Forces seized 25 bales of suspected Al-Shabaab uniforms, revealing a wider cross-border supply chain,” DCI stated.
Following this lead, DCI and ATPU investigations uncovered a complex network operating via local parcel and cargo companies. Officers discovered that some of the shipment had been temporarily stored at a neighbouring parcel service due to limited space at the original centre. The manager of that service has been arraigned for facilitating storage.
The operation also led detectives to Soma Towers, where a cargo company allegedly handled the importation of another 37 bales of uniforms. Investigators have linked an employee of the firm to the coordination and clearance of the shipment.
“All recovered items have been secured and documented as exhibits. Several key suspects are currently in custody, assisting with investigations aimed at dismantling the network,” the police report confirmed. #AlShabaab
