Kenyan TikToker Maribel Irungu, popularly known online as Immac Irungu, has died after a prolonged struggle with mental health challenges, drawing renewed attention to the pressures faced by individuals dealing with psychological distress.

Before rising to online prominence, Maribel had reportedly worked in the corporate sector but later lost her job, a setback said to have worsened her condition. In the period that followed, she became known for publicly accusing and allegedly attempting to blackmail former employers, colleagues, her landlord, and even relatives through social media posts and livestreams.

She later gained widespread attention on TikTok for regularly going live while shouting from apartments where she lived, causing disturbances that frustrated neighbours. The repeated incidents allegedly led to multiple evictions, with the same pattern said to continue after each move.
